He can do a job there but won't like it.

Whilst he's there chuck him a pair of gloves and see what he's like in goal! A big no.

I reckon Carroll will end up there one day. Would be pretty decent at it.

Without reading thread - why are we asking?

Our CBs without Reid

Tomkins and Collins - first choice

Henry and Burke - back up

The nurture some of the youngsters for 2016/17

Plus we will no doubt sign an experienced loan cover to make sure

Kouyate and song are our 2 best midfielders and should do exactly that

He did play there for a season in Belguim, didnt play well at all, clubs that were interested like Arsenal dropped off the radar.

Gary Breen could still do a job for us. Similar player to Winston, both scored at the World Cup!

I've read that he often played there before coming to us, so he can fill in there.
Hopefully Henry can make it. Reid was out of his depth at first and came good.

We sold RIo and were relegated after that.

We should not repeat the same mistake again. Just give what Reid wants..

Square pegs very rarely fit into round holes

Mullins at right back
Anton as left back
Pearce as a lone striker
Boa Morte as a striker
Diame out wide

The list is endless. For every Stewart Downing occasion where a switch up pays dividends there are at least another 10 that are destined to fail

NO

Kouyote's form was awful when playing centre back. In fact probably did us a favour that he did as put a few scouts of the scent.

Allardyce ruled out using either him or Song (who can also play there) as anything other than an emergency stand in the other day

West Ham boss Sam Allardyce has ruled out the chance of midfielders Cheikhou Kouyate or Alex Song being used in defence.

Kouyate was a regular in the back four for former club Anderlecht, including in Champions League games, and Song has played there for Arsenal and Barcelona.

And with Winston Reid’s future at Upton Park unlikely to extend beyond the end of the season, a replacement will need to arrive sooner or later.

But Hammers boss Allardyce has ruled out the possibility of using Kouyate and Song in that role.

“He (Kouyate) played centre midfield every time we watched him,” he said.

“I see him as a stand in for us, I think on the basis of how he performed in that position I see that to be his main role.

“I also think as a person he prefers to play there. There is a lot of energy wasted if you play at centre half and he is a great athlete this lad, which is one of the main assets of a midfielder.

“But he can play there which is a relief for us, we only have three centre halves at the moment, with young Doneil (Henry) coming through, so yes he can play there but we see him in midfield.”

“Song would be wasted there, his passing talent would be wasted there.

“He has got some real cutting edge passes in his locker, if you play him at centre half, he will never be able to get in the oppositions half and play those cutting edge passes.

“The one he slid to Valencia against Manchester City, for example, he plays those passes really well.”

Reid is now back fit after missing their clash with Everton in midweek and Song is hoping to start back to back games retiring from international football on the eve of the African Cup of Nations.

Senegal star Kouyate is with his country though and won’t be involved for the Hammers until February.

Why are we all worried about Reid, we just got a centre back in the highly impressive and powerhouse Donneil Henry
